My positive journey of pregnancy with a stoma bag

My positive journey of pregnancy with a stoma bag

As I embark on the final leg of my pregnancy journey, filled with anticipation and excitement, I find myself reflecting on the unique path I’ve taken as a soon-to-be mum with a stoma bag. While the journey has been sprinkled with its own set of challenges, it has been a profoundly empowering experience!

Throughout my pregnancy, the presence of my stoma bag has been a constant companion. It hasn’t changed much in size, a reassuring stability amidst the changes my body has undergone. One of the key tools that has made managing my stoma bag during pregnancy a breeze has been the Eakin seals. These little wonders have been amazing to me and will definitely be in my hospital bag.

The only small challenge I’ve faced is changing my stoma bag. It now requires a bit more finesse and patience. However, armed with a mirror and a steady hand, I’ve discovered that it is entirely manageable. The key is to approach it with a positive mindset and a willingness to adapt.

As the date for my scheduled C-section approaches, I’ve found myself contemplating the logistics of undergoing surgery with a stoma. Admittedly, the thought of it initially seemed daunting. Would the surgical team be equipped to handle my unique needs? Would the recovery process be more challenging?

To my relief, my doctors expressed minimal concern about performing a C-section with a stoma. Their confidence and expertise reassured me, filling me with a sense of calm and reassurance. Knowing that I am in capable hands has been incredibly comforting as I prepare for this next chapter of my journey into motherhood.

As I prepare to welcome my baby into the world via C-section, I am filled with a profound sense of excitement and anticipation. My stoma bag may be a unique aspect of my journey, but it does not define me. Instead, it serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience that I have and highlights how capable our bodies really are.

In the weeks to come, I look forward to sharing my post-C-section experience, documenting the joys and challenges of navigating motherhood with a stoma.

Until then, thanks for reading!
