Spring cleaning

Spring cleaning

I’ll admit my husband calls me a hoarder, I’m of a sentimental mind and keep love tokens, birthday cards etc.

The same can be said for my stoma supplies, free samples and stuff that gets sent to me to test out. Like all products your stoma products do indeed have an expiry date and you don’t want to be caught short by a bag where the adhesive isn’t as strong as it should be.

I have to a degree always rotated my stoma supplies. However after trailing a delivery service that can be done via text or email, I have a surplus of stock that I need to get through before reordering new supplies.

I also have a lack of storage space since moving due to our bathroom needing a revamp and gutting. I was leaving supplies in my downstairs bathroom, however my youngest niece likes to remove all the backings from the baseplates and sticks my stoma bags to the downstairs loo.

I keep everything in the cupboard that no one talks about or enters…..

I have two crates. The bottom one is new supplies and the top is old supplies. I always keep ten barrier rings and 10 bags in a box in the bathroom and replace as and when needed.

All samples I get sent of adhesive removers & barrier sprays are kept in my bathroom cabinet.

My self imposed rules

I open and check my delivery boxes, however those do not get unpacked until I’ve used up the previous months order.

I’m also careful and keep storing them in the boxes as loose bags and piling things on top can distort and damage the baseplate. I also keep them in a cool dark place so my baseplates stay nice and fresh.

I don’t over order and only order what I know I’m going to use.

Any surplus supplies or promotional bags I wouldn’t typically use have been sent to donation charities in my local area that donate much needed medical supplies to places like Syria or Jacobs well.

How do you store your supplies? Do you regularly rotate your stock?

As always
