How I Keep My Peristomal Skin Healthy | Vitamin E Elements Review

Is Vitamin E the new fashion accessory for skin? A fair amount of retailers and companies have been embracing Vitamin E in their skin care recently. Companies such as Superdrug, Simple, Jo Malone & The Body Shop, just to mention a few…

I have been using the Vitamin E range for a fair few years and I often get asked as to why my stoma site is so healthy, well, it is down to this range of stoma essentials as I call them.

What is the Vitamin E range?

The range consists of sprays, wipes and creams all with added Vitamin E. All of these are available on prescription and you can request samples to try before adding them onto your usual stoma delivery order.

What’s in the range?

Adhesive Remover Wipes

These come  in a box of 30 and they are my favourite in the range. They are incredibly effective at removing the barrier ring adhesive and they have helped to reduce the mild redness caused to my skin with constant barrier ring contact. They are huge so it’s easier to clean the site and they are rather moist so they don’t rub on the skin.

Adhesive Remover Spray

This comes in a 50ml spray can. Yet again this is very effective at helping to aid removal of the pouch.

Barrier Film Wipes

These also come in a box of 30. They are easy to open, are easy to apply and very quick to dry once you have wiped around the skin. As a barrier this stuff is great. The wipes are large so cover the area with one application.

Barrier Spray

This also comes in a 50ml spray can. Easy to apply, quick drying and helps to protect the skin. For me I prefer the barrier cream but this is very good at protecting the stoma site and isn’t tacky once its dried.

Barrier Cream

This is also a firm favourite of mine. I used it with every bag change. It has improved the stoma site no end. It’s actually reduced the pressure ring caused by the outside of the baseplate and improved the skin quality around the site. This is now an essential for me within in my stoma kit.
