Travelling with a stoma? Don’t forget these must have items in your travel kit

Preparing for your holiday can be a source of stress, especially if you’re traveling with a new stoma. The added concern of packing the right stoma supplies can increase anxiety levels. To alleviate your worries, we’ve put together a helpful guide outlining the essential items you should include in your stoma travel kit.

Pouches
To save time, pre-cut your pouches instead of having to trim the base plate to fit your stoma. You can browse Pelicans range of pouches here. Alternatively, you can bring a pair of curved scissors to cut the base plate to size. Remember, if you’re traveling by air, scissors must be placed in your checked luggage. If your stoma changes shape and size, you can add a seal to help provide extra security. Find the right seal for you here!

Extra supplies
It’s wise to pack additional pouches, seals, and any other accessories you typically use. We suggest packing at least double the amount you typically use in a day to account for unexpected delays or emergencies.

Travel size accessories

Keep dry wipes handy during pouch changes. It’s advisable to avoid using baby wipes as they may leave a residue that could irritate the skin surrounding your stoma.

Disposable bags
These are a discreet option to dispose of your bags contents when needed. If you’re concerned about odour, scented bags are available.

Deodoriser
A few drops of deodoriser can effectively neutralise any unwanted odours. Both Pelican Release and Protect Plus have a fresh spearmint fragarence to help mask odours.
